The Story

Ally, Chris, and Joe are exploring a ghost town when, Willie, a lost and hallucinating, Native American man literally stumbles into their lives. He claims the moon is after him. They end up taking him back to their house in the desert where we meet Herbet, a grumpy and secretive archeologist who is working on a mysterious project in the basement, which involves assembling bones that look like nothing man has seen.

Willie tries to warn them of some coming danger, but will not elaborate. Ally wants to help him but he refuses. He urges them to right away.

Thimgs become increasingly strange as Ally starts begins to have visions of some impending danger; then their cat disappears and the jeep suddenly becomes disabled. Willie warns Herbert to stop messing with the Pima Indian spirits and “those who came before”.

In the interim, some of Chris’s friends come to the desert ranch house to visit. During an additional archeological dig exploration, Chris cuts his finger on some strange, unidentifiable bones he unearths during the exploration. The two friends take Chris back home and then they leave. They meet an unfortunate death when the sandstorm engulfs them, from which 2 shadowy figures emerge.

Chris wakes up from a nightmare to discover his finger has been bitten off. Ally and Joe take Chris to town for medical care. Meanwhile, the monsters emerge at the ranch house where Willie tries to face them down, but is killed. In town, Ally runs into a mysterious minister who warns them the same as Willie did before vanishing into thin air.

The fine line between reality and the dream world is now less defined. We learn that Herbert’s bones have disappeared and that this was the second set of bones to go missing. They find that their jeep has been destroyed. They are now trapped at the desert ranch home. Joe thinks this is all Willie’s doing and decides to have a 24 hour armed watch throughout the house.

Joe takes the first shift. While standing guard, he thinks he sees Willie on a nearby hill. When he goes to investigate he becomes lost in a nightmare landscape just a couple of yards from the house. All familiar landmarks have disappeared. Joe realizes that something is after him. His attempt at escape are to no avail. He is overtaken by the shadowy figures seen in the sandstorm.

The next day, the rest of the group find Joe’s body in the nearby water tower. They know they have to leave, but there is no easy way out. Herbert freaks out. Ally and Chis find hidden chambers beneath the garage. They find drawings that inform them of what is going on. The uncovered bones have released the dead spirits kept imprisoned by sacred ground. They are startled by the sound of a creature clawing through the ceiling above them. Ally and Chris try to climb out, but Chris gets trapped when the rope breaks.

Ally goes to the house to find Herbert murdered by one of the monsters. Willie’s spirit returns to help, but he can only slow down the creature, not stop it. She escapes and kills one of the beasts. Afterwards she turns to see Chris seemingly sacrifice himself by blowing up the garage. It doesn’t work. The monster survives and Ally is left to battle it to the death.
